Currently on the staff at Broadneck High School in Annapolis, Maryland, Sandra Balderson has taught instrumental music in Maryland for 31 years. Mrs. Balderson remains musically active as a flautist and maintains a successful private studio that regularly produces All County, All State and All Eastern performers. In addition, she has motivated many students to pursue higher training and careers in music.
Bands and orchestras under her direction have been recognized as being among the finest in the state of Maryland for many years, consistently receiving superior ratings at local, national and international al festivals. Her marching bands, concert bands and orchestras have performed in places such Disney World at MGM studio, and in London, England in New Years Day Parade Festivities. Mrs. Balderson's orchestras have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and the Lincoln Center in New York City. In 2001 she was a finalist for Teacher of the Year in Anne Arundel County, Annapolis, Maryland for her contributions on behalf of students and parents and teachers.
