Mrs. Balderson is a retired teacher from Anne Arundel County Public Schools after 40 years of teaching. Mrs. Balderson is musically active as a ﬂautist and performs with the Chesapeake Flute Consort. Mrs. Balderson is also very active as an adjudicator and guest conductor.
Mrs. Balderson grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and is a graduate of East Carolina University. She completed her graduate work at Towson University and the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland.
Bands and orchestras under her direction have been recognized as being among the ﬁnest in the state of Maryland for many years, consistently receiving superior ratings at local, national and international festivals. Music ensembles under her direction have performed in places such as Disney World, MGM studio, Rome, Vienna, Salzburg and Austria as well as London, England. Mrs. Balderson’s orchestras have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and the Lincoln Center in New York City.
Mrs. Balderson is delighted to conduct the CYSO Wind Ensemble during the 2017-18 season and work with this wonderful group of young people who are dedicated to perfecting their craft. The CYSO's reputation for excellence is evident in all the ensembles in the musicians that continue to thrive under the leadership of all the ensemble directors.
