CYSO Jazz Jam Session

How it works: CYSO jazz students have an opportunity to participate in a JAZZ JAM SESSION with a professional rhythm section hosted by Mr. Fidyk. What is a jam session you may ask? A jam session is an informal musical environment where musicians gather to play commonly known tunes and improvised solos. This musical format has been used for generations and continues today in every major city in America and around the world. It’s a very important vehicle to meet new musicians, gain experience and learn from one another.

Students would need to bring their instruments and music that Mr. Fidyk will distribute starting at next Tuesday’s rehearsal. CYSO jazz students will have the opportunity to perform as many tunes as they wish. If you are a rhythm section person, you are welcome to play on as many tunes as you wish as well. This is a unique opportunity for CYSO students to perform side-by-side with professional jazz musician/educators. This can also serve as an opportunity to recruit new student/musician to our jazz family at CYSO.

49 W. coffeehouse has agreed to host this event in hopes that we can continue to do more jam sessions like it.

If you and your child would like to participate, please respond to this email with the number of guests that will be attending from your party. 49 W. has requested this information so that they can have enough staff on hand to serve.

Deadline to apply is Thursday 9/27.  Cost per Person $10.
