CYSO on tour

The CYSO has a history of touring locally and globally. Taking our music out into the communities near and far provides a unique opportunity for our students. Benefits of the intensive rehearsals and concerts include cultural education, character development, adventure and refined musical skills.

Our touring musicians are selected based on not just their musical abilities but also their propensity for cooperation and attitude.

Upcoming tours

Carnegie Hall 2018

Maestro Benichou is excited to offer this unique opportunity for the CYSO Symphony for the third year in a row and the Flute Ensembles will return this year. Although we have been invited for the third year in a row, there is no guarantee it will continue.

This week we will begin collecting money for the Carnegie Hall trip. The student's fee will include the cost of coaches, professional ringers, instrument rentals and fees associated with the trip.

I can assure you that this opportunity promises to be a wonderful experience for both students and parents. Last year was amazing for all. Note: Carnegie Hall does not allow photography or videos during the show, so the only way to see it is to attend this event.

We will do all we can to make this an incredible experience for everyone. If it's anything like last year, the performance will be spectacular.

Cost for CYSO Musicians

  • CYSO musicians will pay $250.00 (1 night in the hotel, 1 breakfast, transportation to and from NY and travel within NYC). All CYSO musicians will need to travel by bus

Cost for Family members/Friends

  • Non-musicians are $200 based on double occupancy (1 night, 1 breakfast, transportation to and from NY and within NYC)

  • For a single room it is an additional $50 a night for a total of $250.00

  •  Fees are due for all by November 8th

Our price is a package deal so we unfortunately do not have any flexibility regarding the price for one way, rooms and no bus, or bus with no rooms. You are welcome to take the bus one-way or use any part of it but the cost is the same ($250 a student in quad room and $200 a chaperone in a double room). We will have 2 buses going and musicians and chaperones have first priority.

Please send a check in with your student next Thursday to reserve a spot. We have a fast approaching deadline to reserve the buses and hotel.

Note: anyone attending the performance will need a ticket. In the past the organizers have provide a code to purchase discount tickets, we will share this with you as soon as it has been provided.

Itinerary

Friday Nov 30

  • Time TBA - depart Annapolis on Friday morning and arrive in NY City. If time permits we will do a planned excursion and have lunch.

  • Rehearsal at 1:30 at Carnegie Hall

  • Dinner

  • 7:30pm call time at Carnegie Hall for the 8pm Concert

  • Bus to the hotel in New Jersey for the night

Saturday Dec 1

  • time TBA - bus to Annapolis

Meals

Meals will be purchased separately by the students and parents and are not included in the trip fee with the exception of breakfast at the hotel on Saturday morning. There are plenty of nearby restaurants. The CYSO kids are in quads, so you cannot room with your child unless you have your own room and then they may join you. However most of the students enjoy being together.

Chaperones

We need chaperones! Please contact me if you are willing to chaperone.

Finally,

I know some of the parents have voiced concerns as to whether their child will be going to Carnegie Hall.  Maestro Benichou would like to take everyone. So it is up to your student to practice hard.

Please find the registration forms below and turn in the tour fee as soon as possible as we will need to secure our reservations by mid November.

Sincerely,

Linda Foss
